Maersk Line announced rate increases for all cargo in the Asia to Europe trade. The increase will be implemented tin two stages:

Asia (except Taiwan) to North Europe and Mediterranean:

  • USD 250 per TEU/main port. Effective 1 April 2009
  • USD 300 per TEU/out port. Effective 1 April 2009
  • USD 300 per TEU/main port. Effective 1 July 2009
  • USD 350 per TEU/out port. Effective 1 July 2009

Taiwan to North Europe and Mediterranean:

  • USD 250 per TEU/main port. Effective 9 April 2009
  • USD 300 per TEU/out port. Effective 9 April 2009
  • USD 300 per TEU/main port. Effective 1 July 2009
  • USD 350 per TEU/out port. Effective 1 July 2009

The rate increase applies for all equipment types.

Furthermore, Maersk will be increasing rate offers to inland haulage locations during April and May 2009.

GENERAL RATE INCREASE EUROPE - MIDEAST & SOUTH ASIA
Unsustainable rates and improved demand lead to rate increases effective April 1, 2009.

The filed increases are as follows on Eastbound services from Northern Europe, North Africa and Mediterranean to Middle East and South Asia:

  • USD 50 per 20' dry container and reefer
  • USD 100 per 40' dry container and reefer

The increase applies equally to all cargo and commodities.
