Neptune Orient Lines (NOL), the world's seventh-largest container shipping firm, said on Monday it carried 7 percent more cargo in the four weeks to June 3 from a year ago, helped by higher volumes on intra-Asia and Asia-Europe routes.

NOL carried 228,000 forty-foot equivalent units (FEUs) during the four-week period, up from 212,600 FEUs a year ago, the firm said in a statement.

The average revenue per FEU fell 8 percent to $2,557 per FEU from $2,768 last year, mainly due to lower rates in the Asia-Europe trade lane. (Reuters)
