Old Dominion Freight Line Inc. has named Darek Nowak vice president of the company's Midwest Region.

Nowak has more than 20 years of experience in the transportation industry and has been with Old Dominion for 13 years. He previously served as manager of the company's Chicago Service Center.

'I have confidence in Darek's ability to lead our efforts in the Midwest as he excels in his new area of responsibility,' said Greg Gantt, Old Dominion's executive vice president and chief operating officer. 'With more than 20 years of experience in the LTL industry, Darek brings a great perspective and a depth of knowledge about the transportation industry to his new role. We look forward to watching him succeed in his new capacity.'

In his current role, Nowak is responsible for the company's sales and operations in a seven-state region. Nowak will report to Gantt, and is based in the company's Des Plaines, Illinois, service center.

'I am looking forward to this new opportunity to lead a group of dedicated individuals who make up Old Dominion's operations in the Midwest,' Nowak said. 'People make Old Dominion a great company. Without the efforts of such a dedicated group of individuals, we wouldn't be able to accomplish everything that we have, and I'm looking forward to seeing what we can achieve next.'
