Old Dominion Freight Line, Inc. has opened a new container drayage facility that will serve rail heads, container yards and ports in the Birmingham, Ala. area. The Birmingham Container Drayage Operation ' the third container drayage facility Old Dominion has opened in Alabama ' will offer pick-up and delivery to any point in the continental United States.

'Co-located with our Birmingham Service Center, the new site will strengthen our network in Alabama, which includes container drayage facilities in Huntsville and Mobile,' said Wayne Bersch, Director of Container Operations for OD. 'The facility will allow Old Dominion to expand coverage in the Southeast. The site will also help us meet growing demand from customers who ship domestically and globally.'

OD's container drayage division has experienced strong growth over the past two years, including a 21.5 percent increase in container drayage shipments in 2012 and a 19 percent increase in 2011.
