The Lower Mississippi River (LMR) is currently reading 4.5 feet at the Carrollton Gauge. The river stage is predicted to rise to almost 9.0 feet in the next 10 days.

If this rapid rise in the river level occurs, navigating conditions may deteriorate due to swift currents, heavy debris flow, and degradation of the ATON system.

If the LMR reaches a level of 8.0 feet (and continues to rise) at the Carrollton Gauge, the Vessel Traffic Service New Orleans will regulate traffic in the vicinity of Algiers Point using the red or green vessel control lights located at Governor Nicholls (MM 94.3), Gretna (MM 96.6), and Westwego repeater (MM 101.4) as per 33CFR 165.810.

Mariners are advised to pay close attention to the changing river conditions during the upcoming week.
