Russia's Pacific port of Vostochny is aiming to increase coal loadings by 59 percent to 27 million tons in the next 4 years, the company said in a statement.

The increase from the forecast volume of 17 million tonnes in 2012 will be achieved through the expansion of the coal terminal at Vostochny, the company said.

Vostochny is a major export hub for Russia's mining giants Kuzbassrazrezugol, SUEK, Zarechnaya and Mechel

and handles coal for export to Japan, China and South Korea.

The announcement is in line with bullish outlooks from Russia's coal miners, many of which have recently increased production, despite weak markets.

The Kuzbass, Russia's key producing coal region, is aiming for a new historical record extraction of 200 million tonnes this year, following the launch of new mines. (Reuters)
