In a significant development initiated at the beginning of this year, Air France KLM Martinair Cargo (AFKLMP Cargo) joined forces with SkyCell. This strategic partnership aims to enhance Unit Load Device (ULD) tracking capabilities across Air France KLM Martinair Cargo’s entire ULD fleet, marking a significant milestone in the industry.

Air France KLM Martinair Cargo has chosen SkyCell as its preferred ULD tracking partner. Leveraging SkyCell’s advanced Internet of Things (IoT) technology and the SkyMind platform, Air France KLM Martinair Cargo will benefit from real-time visibility into ULD operations. This innovative solution, specifically designed for pharmaceutical transport, enables Air France KLM Martinair Cargo to enhance control and efficiency in its logistics operations like never before.

SkyMind utilises advanced technology, including sophisticated readers and tags, to offer Air France KLM Martinair Cargo real-time visibility into its entire ULD fleet. This visibility empowers them to make informed decisions and operate proactively rather than reactively, generating improved operational efficiency and enhanced customer satisfaction.

In a move that solidifies its commitment to driving technological advancements in the logistics sector, Kuehne+Nagel, a global logistics leader, has taken the initiative to install gateway readers in their warehouse facility at Frankfurt am Main Airport. Installed on 6 May, the readers now enable live tracking of SkyMind AFKLMP Cargo ULD devices, marking a significant advancement in ULD tracking methods.

“Kuehne+Nagel’s installation of gateway readers at our Frankfurt facility showcases our dedication to embracing innovation and enhancing our services with the needs of our customers in mind,” said Holger Ketz, Global Head of Air Logistics Network & Carrier Management at Kuehne+Nagel. “We are pleased to support Air France KLM Martinair Cargo as the first customer to utilise this highly innovative method of tracking ULDs, further reinforcing our position as an industry leader.”

“With SkyMind, Air France KLM Martinair Cargo will gain complete control over its ULD operations — mitigating the extensive manual efforts historically associated with ULD tracing and tracking, leading to substantial time and cost savings, as well as boosting operational efficiency,” stated Andy Newbold, Global Key Account Director at Air France KLM Martinair Cargo. “We are proud of this important step made by Kuehne+Nagel, showcasing their commitment to pioneering innovative solutions that ultimately benefit our mutual customers.”

Cooperation between Air France KLM Martinair Cargo and Kuehne+Nagel represents a significant step forward in the air cargo industry, revolutionising ULD tracking and setting new standards for operational efficiency and customer service.
