Five Star Electric Corp. is playing a key role in the development of John F. Kennedy International Airport’s new Terminal 6, one of the centerpiece projects in the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey’s historic $19 billion transformation of JFK Airport.

As part of the new Terminal 6, Five Star Electric is furnishing and installing lighting and lighting control systems throughout the approximately 1.2 million-square-foot international terminal. Working as a subcontractor to AECOM Hunt, Five Star is bringing its extensive electrical construction expertise to the $4.2 billion project, which will feature 10 gates, including nine capable of accommodating wide-body aircraft, and is designed to deliver a modern, digitally enabled and sustainable experience for international travelers. The first phase of the terminal, including its first five gates, is scheduled to open shortly, with full completion expected in 2028.

“JFK Airport redevelopment, inclusive of Terminal 6, is one of the most significant infrastructure projects underway in New York, and Five Star is proud to play a role in bringing it to life,” said Russ Lancey, CEO of Five Star Electric Corp. “A project of this scale and complexity demands an extraordinary level of technical expertise, coordination and execution. Our team brings decades of experience delivering complex electrical systems across the Tri-State area’s transportation infrastructure, and we’re excited to bring that expertise to the transformation of JFK.”

Five Star’s work on Terminal 6 builds on the company’s longstanding experience delivering critical electrical infrastructure at JFK and across the New York metropolitan region. As part of the airport’s broader redevelopment, Five Star also worked on JFK’s Central Substation No. 2, a new 40 MVA electrical facility that provides power to Terminal 6, the New Terminal One and the new Ground Transportation Center, further extending the company’s role in the transformation of one of the world’s busiest airports.

For more than six decades, the company has helped build, power and modernize the critical infrastructure that keeps New York, New Jersey and Connecticut connected and moving. From major transportation hubs, government facilities, and commercial developments to complex electrical and infrastructure projects, Five Star has brought decades of technical expertise, skilled craftsmanship, and a commitment to quality to projects that shape the region and serve millions of people every day.
