FORT WORTH, Texas - American Airlines Cargo announced use of the new Dreamliner for four international routes. The Boeing 787-800 launched this month, showcasing a multitude of benefits for customers, including 28 positions for cargo, improved aerodynamics, advanced engine technology and better fuel efficiency. The aircraft, a unique widebody with the potential of opening up new markets across the globe, will initially operate in routes between: ​▪ Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) and Beijing (PEK) – June 2, 2015 ​▪ DFW and Buenos Aires (EZE) – June 4, 2015 ​▪ DFW and Shanghai (PVG) – June 26, 2015 ​▪ Chicago (ORD) and Narita (NRT) – August 18, 2015 “With the addition of the 787, we are able to more effectively utilize our growing network and continue in our efforts to expand our reach,” said Jim Butler, President of American Airlines Cargo. “The efficiency of the aircraft allows us to offer more air cargo opportunities, while simultaneously reducing our carbon footprint and enhancing the customer experience.” The modern aircraft contains loftier aft and bulk doors for loading larger shipments, as well as the capability to carry up to 1,000 pounds of dry ice, a critical component in the shipment of high-value pharmaceutical and perishable goods. With only one-third of the maintenance requirements of other aircraft and increases in fuel mileage, the 787 will offer faster, more efficient options and products to customers across the world.
