South Fork Wind receives federal record of decision, setting stage for NY’s first offshore wind farm to begin onshore construction in early 2022

South Fork Wind, New York’s first offshore wind farm, today announced it received its Record of Decision (ROD) from the U.S. Department of the Interior’s Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM), successfully reaching a critical milestone in the federal environmental review.

The new MOD 1100/2000t takes part in first lift

The new MOD 1100/2000t spreader beam at 33m span, which was the latest addition to Modulift’s modular range of popular DNV Type Approved spreader beams, has been used in it’s very first lift in Dover in the UK. The successful first lift was carried out by its new owner, heavy lifting rental company, Safe Lifting Europe B.V for their customer Bonn & Mees Floating Cranes.

World’s first inline active heave compensator successfully tested by Seaqualize, together with Van Oord

In no less than 62 hours of rigorous offshore testing, tech scale-up Seaqualize successfully completed offshore trials for its inline Active Heave Compensator (iAHC), the ‘Delta600’. Together with testing partners Van Oord and nautical research institute MARIN, the offshore lifting tool was tested for fixed-to-floating, floating-to-fixed and floating-to-floating transfers of 300mT loads. The Delta600 is DNV certified and ready for work.
