Port Manatee continues to break cargo records, including handling an all-time-high of more than 9.3 million tons in the fiscal year ended Sept. 30, up 19.1 percent from the immediately preceding 12-month period. That comes on the heels of a 13.4 percent tonnage rise in fiscal 2017 from fiscal 2016.

The Port of Los Angeles processed 801,264 Twenty-Foot Equivalent Units (TEUs) in September 2018, a 4.9 percent increase compared to September 2017. It was the strongest September in the Port’s 111-year history.

In an interview, Mario Cordero, executive director of the Port of Long Beach, told AJOT that the Port has “re-established the same annual container volume in 2017 that it had processed before the 2008 recession.”

The Port of New Orleans welcomed its largest container ship ever when the CMA CGM operated Pusan C, a 9,500 TEU vessel, called on Oct. 8 at the Napoleon Avenue Container Terminal operated by Ports America.

Due to the possibility of hurricane force winds (73+ mph) associated with Hurricane Michael entering Sector Mobile's area of responsibility within 12 hours, the Captain of the Port (COTP) is ordering Port Status ZULU for Ports of Pensacola, Panama City, and portions of the GICWW
