The shareholders of LUG aircargo holding GmbH have nominated Patrik Tschirch (42) and Lutz Schmidt (42) as members of the management board effective January 1, 2013. Patrik Tschirch will be speaker of the board, CCO, and COO. Lutz Schmidt will be responsible for finance and controlling, contracts and real estate management.

Tschirch and Schmidt take over from Wolfgang Korte (63) who has been managing director and COO of LUG for the past twelve years. He will remain in the company in an advisory capacity to accompany the changeover until March 31, 2013 when he will retire.

Lug aircargo handling, one of the most innovative, independent ground service companies, has operated at Frankfurt/Main airport for more than 40 years. The firm is also one of the leading ground handlers in Munich. Patrik Tschirch joined LUG as Manager Key Accounts and Business Development two years ago. Besides Wolfgang Korte he has been responsible for customer acquisition and retention amongst other things. Lutz Schmidt has been with the company for some eight years responsible for finance and controlling as well as real estate management. Both are well known personalities in the international airfreight industry with some twenty years experience.

'Our company expanded considerably in the past twelve years. We have more than trebled our covered warehousing space in Frankfurt from 10,000 to 33,000 sq. m. And we continue to grow. We will sign a lease for an additional 800 sq. m. in Munich shortly,' says Wolfgang Korte. 'Our customer portfolio is also getting bigger continually. LUG aircargo handling has set itself ambitious goals for the next few years. The dual leadership is a clear signal that we are aiming for strong growth and expect extra drive from this young management team.'

'I am delighted that I am allowed to shoulder these additional responsibilities as a member of the management board after only two years with LUG aircargo handling. I am convinced that I will justify the trust placed in me by the advisory board,' says Patrik Tschirch.

'My responsibilities at LUG have grown continually in the last eight years. Controlling has a special role to play to drive a business forward and facilitate cost effective growth, especially in economically difficult times. I am delighted to take on this new challenge', says Lutz Schmidt.
