Ideal Warehouse Innovations announced three enhancements to its No Boots on the Ground® Shuntable 2.0 Trailer Stand system, expanding the ways industrial facilities can reduce worker exposure in active loading dock approaches.

The new Shuntable 2.0 Versa Trailer Stand, Hydraulic Lifting Device and Forklift Handling Set build on more than a decade of Ideal innovation in trailer collapse prevention.

No Boots on the Ground® began with the original Shuntable Trailer Stand and a simple idea: rather than requiring workers to enter an active dock approach to deploy and retrieve a trailer stand, engineer a system that allows the equipment to be handled from a vehicle.

The concept addresses risks beyond trailer collapse itself. Active dock approaches can expose workers on foot to moving yard trucks, blind spots, poor visibility, harsh weather and other hazards. Shuntable 2.0 advanced the original concept, and experience in demanding customer applications has continued to shape its evolution.

Shuntable 2.0 Versa: Greater versatility in real-world dock approaches

The Shuntable 2.0 Versa Trailer Stand was developed to provide greater versatility across the range of conditions found in dock approaches.

A smaller footprint, improved maneuverability and more forgiving deployment help Versa accommodate challenging conditions including uneven surfaces, gravel and incline or decline approaches.

“Every generation of Shuntable has been shaped by what we learn from customers using the product in the field,” said Sandro Verrelli, President, Ideal Warehouse Innovations. “Versa is a great example. Instead of expecting every dock approach to accommodate the equipment, we continued evolving the equipment to better accommodate the dock approach.”

Hydraulic lifting for demanding duty cycles

Ideal has also introduced a new Hydraulic Lifting Device for operations where trailer stands are deployed and retrieved repeatedly throughout the day.

Developed with reliability over speed as a key design consideration, the hydraulic system draws on proven industrial hydraulic technology and is designed for high-duty-cycle applications, harsh climates and continuous use.

Forklift Handling expands where Shuntable 2.0 can be used

The new Forklift Handling Set addresses another barrier to adoption: facilities that do not operate yard jockeys.

The system uses custom fabricated forks matched to the customer's outdoor-rated forklift. Purpose-designed wedges incorporated into the fork tips allow the operator to deploy and, importantly, retrieve the Shuntable 2.0 Trailer Stand from beneath a trailer.

This gives facilities another way to implement Shuntable 2.0 without requiring a yard jockey for trailer stand handling.

“The technology has evolved, but the objective behind No Boots on the Ground hasn't changed,” said Dirk Seis, Director, Product Management, Ideal Warehouse Innovations. “If we can engineer a process that keeps someone from unnecessarily entering an active dock approach, that's where we want to go.”

Same goal. More ways to get there.

The original Shuntable Trailer Stand established the No Boots on the Ground® concept. Shuntable 2.0 advanced it. Versa, Hydraulic and Forklift Handling represent the next step.

More versatility. More ways to deploy. The same goal: keeping people out of unnecessary hazard zones.
