William Pickens of Hub Group Trucking, Inc. took the 10 millionth lesson. Pickens, who hauls intermodal loads daily in a 250-mile radius out of the carrier’s Memphis terminal, completed the Food Safety Modernization Act for Drivers course, which aims to ensure the U.S. food supply is safe. A driver for Hub Group Trucking for the past five years, Pickens lives in Tupelo, Mississippi with his wife and college-bound daughter. “PRO-TREAD courses are fast and they have clear information,” he said. As a thank-you, ITI provides a prize package to drivers who take lessons that hit a million mark. ITI’s COO, Nathan Stahlman, and VP of Marketing, Thom Schoenborn, traveled to Hub Group Trucking’s Memphis terminal to present Pickens with an iPad engraved with “You’re One in 10 Million to Us.” He also received a Columbia jacket, work gloves, a cooler, mug, and gift cards. “This is fantastic,” Pickens said. “My wife is going to love these.” Timothy Smith, VP of Safety for Hub Group Trucking, was on hand for the presentation. “We fully recognize the value of the PRO-TREAD training and are impressed that 10 million lessons have been completed,” he stated. “Training and safety have always been our priority and we encourage our drivers to take what they learn from these lessons, use the knowledge on the road and share it with other drivers.” “The intermodal work done by the drivers at Hub Group Trucking is demanding,” Nathan Stahlman added. “Hub Group Trucking was a former client but switched back to us because of the advantages and effectiveness of PRO-TREAD. In the case of Hub Group Trucking, their re-engagement shows their commitment to training and safety. They’ve been rolling out training aggressively, making sure drivers and managers take the best courses that apply to their jobs and loads.” ITI, which celebrates every millionth lesson taken, took 292 days to get from 9 to 10 million lessons. The company provided its 1 millionth lesson in 2007 and has been steadily shortening the interval between million mile marks since that time  ITI is known for its effective mastery learning training strategy, an instructional method by which the student must 'master' each subject before moving to the next. The online strategy is proven to improve safety behaviors and provide defensible proof that students have mastered a topic. With ITI, fleets have the flexibility to use off-the-shelf PRO-TREAD lessons, engage ITI’s PRO-SERVICE team to develop customized content, and use ITI's secure hosting services for their own content.
