As Harvey wreaked havoc in Southeast Texas starting on Aug. 25, assets along Kelly Field at Port San Antonio were preparing to respond.
The Port’s fixed-base operator, Atlantic Aviation, has been a center of important activity. On a daily basis the team at Atlantic has served an array of military helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft used in rescue and other relief efforts. Atlantic’s facility is also temporarily hosting some command operations. Other Port customers, including GDC Technics and Air Methods, also pitched in by providing hangar space and logistics support.
The region’s longest runway, coupled with its ample staging areas, have given responders strategic access to impacted areas.
Other sites at the Port remain on standby to provide necessary support as part of a community-wide response to help our neighbors to the east.
