The National Transportation Week Banquet held this year on May 2, 2017 in Charleston, SC is an annual evening of giving something back from the local transportation & logistics industry to deserving young men & women who will soon embark on their careers. From a small start some 45 years ago when a $50.00 scholarship was given to today when 11 separate scholarships totaling $25,200.00 provided by various different clubs and organizations in the Charleston area. Over the years NTW Committee have grown and then retracted as organizations either closed up, folded into other similar organizations or as this year new organization joined the effort. Since 1983 the NTW Committee has been the venue for the awarding of over $340,000+ in scholarships.
This year our keynote speaker, David Aker a 15 year NFL kicker who played in two super bowls gave a well-received talk to the attendees emphasizing just because you may not succeed in achieving a goal use the failure as a reason to train and work harder so you will succeed at your next goal.
