Navis, a part of Cargotec Corporation, and provider of operational technologies that unlock greater performance and efficiency for the world’s leading terminal operators, today announced a new N4 terminal operating system (TOS) license agreement with Baltic Container Terminal (BCT), a fast-growing, privately owned container terminal located in Latvia’s capital city, Riga. BCT, which is owned by Mariner Capital Limited based in Malta, enjoys a strategic geographical location in the Baltic region.  This positions the terminal well to serve as a gateway to meet container traffic demand to and from the main industrial centers of the Russian hinterland and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). BCT is spread across 57 hectares over the island of Kundzinsala and currently handles 275,000 TEUs per year. The terminal is expected to grow by approximately 10 percent a year over the next five years. The implementation of N4 will enable BCT to optimize its operations, improving service to existing customers, and will play a critical role in preparing the terminal for expected growth and evolving industry challenges. “The Baltic region is facing geopolitical challenges, but Latvia’s favorable environment provides us with tremendous growth opportunities. As we look to the future, we see N4 as an essential partner that will help BCT modernize and optimize operations, ready our facility for future automated equipment and operational processes, support changing business requirements and improve ROI potential,” said Dmitry Kiselyev, IT Manager of BCT.   “As a long-time partner, we are honored that BCT has chosen to further its investment in Navis,” said Guenter Schmidmeir, General Manager of the EMEA region for Navis. “We are confident that the upgrade to the N4 TOS will provide BCT with the tools it needs to address evolving industry challenges and emerge as a more efficient and optimized terminal for both current and future customers.”
