Old Dominion Freight Line, Inc. will open a new 267-door facility in Memphis on October 20th. The company invested more than $30 million to build a new state-of-the-art service center in Memphis after four years of record growth at the previous location. With 416 employees currently, Old Dominion plans to create over 100 new jobs in Memphis over the next two years. Memphis serves as one of the company’s busiest freight hubs due to its proximity to Interstate 40, Interstate 55, three major rail heads, the largest American cargo airport and the nation’s second largest inland port. “We’re thrilled to celebrate our 35th anniversary in Memphis with this state-of-the-art facility,” said Johnny Stricklin, manager of the Memphis Service Center. “As we continue to attract new customers in the region, we remain steadfast in our commitment and promise of delivering premium service to Old Dominion’s customers.” The Memphis Service Center provides direct service to western Tennessee (Memphis, Millington, Bartlett and Somerville), east Arkansas (West Memphis, Wynne and Forrest City) and northern Mississippi (Southaven, Olive Branch, Byhalia and Greenwood). The facility is located at 2098 Spirit of ’76 Drive and is one of five Old Dominion service centers in Tennessee. The company also maintains facilities in Nashville, Cookeville, Jackson and Morristown which is the largest in our nationwide network of 222 service centers.
