Port Canaveral, FL - Port Canaveral welcomed U.S. Rep. Stephanie Murphy (FL-07) and representatives of her staff for a discussion on Port operations and a behind-the-scenes tour that highlighted the strategic importance of the Port as a world-class gateway for commerce and tourism driver for Central Florida. Port Commission Vice Chairman Wayne Justice, Port CEO Capt. John Murray, and executive staff provided a briefing for the Congresswoman on the economic significance of the Port’s cruise, cargo, recreation, and logistics businesses in the region, as well as an overview of infrastructure plans as the Port charts a course for the future. “We were pleased to have the opportunity to showcase all that Port Canaveral delivers to the local and regional economies, and to demonstrate to Congresswoman Murphy how we are well-positioned to capture emerging opportunities to create and sustain well-paying jobs in our community and beyond,” said Commissioner Justice. "Port Canaveral continues to experience growth in all sectors," said Port CEO Murray. "We greatly appreciate Rep. Murphy's interest in the Port and our role as an economic driver for Central Florida. We look forward to continuing to work with her and her dedicated staff in the future." Captain Murray led a roundtable discussion with the Congresswoman at the Port’s Maritime Center that focused on strategic plans for the future and stressed the importance of Port Canaveral as Central Florida’s premier maritime gateway.
