Port Freeport Port Commission and Executive Staff presents $30,000 check to Bobby Fuller, Director of Texas Port Ministry.
FREEPORT, TX - Port Freeport hosted its fourth annual golf tournament to help raise $30,000 for Texas Port Ministry.  “We had over one hundred forty golfers, most from the Freeport and Houston maritime transportation industry,” said Port Freeport Chief Financial Officer Jeff Strader.  “Port Freeport continues its focus on supporting our community. The proceeds from the tournament benefits individuals that come into contact with our Port on a daily basis,” said Port Commission Chairman Ravi Singhania.  A check was presented to Texas Port Ministry Director Bobby Fuller at the Commission’s regular meeting.  “It was an honor to host the fourth annual tournament and be able to assist Texas Port Ministry in their mission.  I am proud of the staff and volunteers for making this event a huge success,” added Singhania. Texas Port Ministry of Freeport has provided spiritual, social and physical care to the Freeport Harbor Community since 1974.  “These proceeds mean that we are able to continue to meet the needs of seafarers, truck drivers and port workers.  For the seafarer, access to shore leave is vital and the provided transportation services through the secure Port facilities are welcomed and very much needed,” said Bobby Fuller.  “Truck drivers, like seafarers, spend long hours and often days alone.  We are able to offer them shower facilities and a place to log down time at our Center” added Fuller. On behalf of Texas Port Ministries, I would like to thank Port Freeport for hosting this annual tournament.  Because of you, and all of the sponsors Texas Port Ministry will be able to continue to meet the needs of these individuals” said Bobby Fuller. Each year, services are provided to over 10,000 international seafarers from over 50 countries; over 150,000 truck drivers from across North America; and numerous local port workers through the efforts of over 40 volunteers.  Texas Port Ministry is a 501©3 funded solely from contributions and donations.  The Port contributes the success to the dedication of our staff and volunteers, along with support of the sponsors.
