Water service outside of the Port has not been affected. The incident is limited to a small area of the Port.
Partial service has been restored to much of the area, including for fire hydrants. The Queen Mary and the Carnival Cruise terminal in Pier H have water for some uses, but not for consumption.
Area hotels, the Residence Inn and the Maya, and the Reef restaurant are still without water service.
Elsewhere, terminals are being supplied with bottled water. In the affected area, water users are being advised against direct use of tap water for purposes other than toilet flushing and/or fire suppression.
City of Long Beach crews are systematically testing water lines to pinpoint the problem and restore water service as quickly as possible. No health problems have been reported, and no oil has flowed into harbor waters.
