Fresno, CA –  JTS (Johanson Transportation Service), a leading third-party supply chain solutions provider, announced that their Director of Compliance & Legal Affairs, Alicia Ruiz, attended the 2018 TIA 3PL Policy Forum on behalf of the TIA, representing JTS and the 3PL sector to help shape the future of the freight transportation industry. Over 90 people attended this year’s event in the nation’s Capital.

One of the primary goals of the Forum was to discuss support for a 3PL industry bill that would create a National Hiring Standard for entities hiring motor carriers. The National Hiring Standard, sponsored by U.S. Sen. Roy Blunt (R-MO) and U.S. Rep. Rodney Davis (R-IL), plays an important role towards improving safety within the transportation industry, specifically by establishing a national standard for hiring motor carriers. If enacted, a hiring entity would be required to do the following: ensure that a carrier is properly registered; has obtained the minimum required insurance and does not have an unsatisfactory safety rating.

During the Forum, Ms. Ruiz met with several Congressional Hill delegates including: Legislative Assistant, Trevor Higgins at Senator Dianne Feinstein's office: Counsel & Senior Analyst, Jill Harrelson at Senator Bernie Sanders office; Legislative Assistant, James Wilson & Majority USDOT Detailee, Chris Newman at Senator John Barrasso's office; Deputy Chief of Staff; Scott Peterson at Congressman Jim Costas's office; and, Congresswoman Susan Davis.
