National carrier Thai Airways International PCL said the European Commission had dropped charges against it relating to competition rules in the cargo sector and it did not now face any fine.

The airline had booked 4.29 billion baht ($145.2 million) in provisions related to the case since 2008, it said in a statement.

Earlier 11 airlines, including Air France-KLM and British Airways, were fined a total of 799 million euros ($1.11 billion) by EU regulators in a price-fixing case that could open the way for private claims against the companies. (Reuters)
