Lyon, France - As the official transport partner of Amaury Sport Organisation (ASO), organisers of the Tour de France, XPO Logistics is providing a complete transport solution for the world's most famous cycle race.
The partnership extends a longstanding tradition of support by Norbert Dentressangle SA, which was acquired by XPO Logistics in June. In servicing Le Tour for the thirty-fifth consecutive year, XPO Logistics has committed to transport 22 tonnes of equipment with a dedicated team of nearly 50 company trucks and drivers. The three-week event - which is the third largest broadcasted sports event worldwide - will cover a total distance of 3,360 kilometres (2,087 miles) over 21 stages. Le Tour culminates on 26 July 2015, at the celebrated finish line on the Champs-Élysées in Paris.  In addition to transporting the Start and Finish Villages, XPO Logistics is responsible for transporting race facilities and ancillary items, including safety barriers and advertising structures, while managing the re-stocking of merchandise along the route. The company plays a central role in ensuring that hundreds of extremely tight delivery times are met over weeks of intense activity. Hervé Montjotin, Europe CEO and president of XPO Logistics, said: "We're delighted to continue our partnership with Le Tour and serve as the provider of choice for the 'Caravane' - the entire Tour retinue. As always, we are committed to delivering seamless support to one of the most prestigious sports events in the world."
