The Transportation Marketing & Communications Association (TMCA) recently announced that Tammy Beil, vice president of marketing for FedEx Freight was named the "2008 TMCA Transportation Marketing Executive of the Year." This honor was awarded recently at the Annual Conference in Ponte Vedra, FL.

With FedEx Freight since 2004, Beil is responsible for strategic market planning, strengthening the FedEx brand, campaign execution, external communications and customer acquisition for the $4.6 billion company. In 2007, her experience and leadership led FedEx Freight's marketing organization in gaining a distinct, competitive edge for FedEx Freight and FedEx National LTL in the midst of challenging economic conditions. Her nomination for the award was accepted, in part, for her innovative thinking, fierce determination, and strategic insight in tying marketing to the company's business goals, according to Brian Everett, TMCA's CEO.

'This award is another way that TMCA encourages marketing and communications executives to aspire to be the best that they can be,' said Everett. 'It's also another way TMCA is raising awareness of marketing's value in the industry. Tammy's contributions to the industry and our discipline is an inspiration to us all.'

Beil joins a circle of distinguished alumni who have demonstrated the highest principles and marketing effectiveness in the industry. Past recipients include Mike Russell, vice president for public affairs and press secretary for the American Trucking Associations posthumously in 2007; Chuck Lounsbury, formerly senior vice president of strategy, marketing and acquisitions for Ryder in 2006; Dick Metzler, formerly executive vice president of DHL Express in 2005; and Greg Reid, formerly senior vice president and chief communications officer of Yellow Corp. in 2003.
