Old Dominion Freight Line, Inc. today expanded its presence in Portland with a state-of-the art facility that will serve as a local freight hub for the growing less-than-truckload (LTL) carrier. The Portland Service Center represents a significant expansion for Old Dominion, increasing capacity to 136 dock doors from 84 doors at the previous location. The facility employs 147 people, including drivers, sales representatives, dock workers, mechanics and administrative employees.  The facility handles a wide range of freight, stemming from its close proximity to Interstate 5, the Port of Portland and several major rail heads. Old Dominion opened its first service center in Portland in 2004. “The new facility in Portland is a significant investment for Old Dominion,” said Jeff Lorenzini, manager of the Portland Service Center. “With additional room for growth, the new facility will help solidify Old Dominion as the leading premium service carrier in the region.”  The Portland Service Center provides direct service throughout northern Oregon (Portland, Gresham, Tigard, Beaverton, Hillsboro and Salem) and southern Washington (Vancouver, Longview and Washougal).  The facility is located at 146 N. Gertz Road in Portland and is one of four Old Dominion service centers in Oregon. The company also maintains facilities in Eugene, Bend and Medford.
