Guetersloh – Today’s opening ceremony marked the commencement of operations at Arvato SCM Solutions’ new Hall 20, located at its headquarters in Guetersloh. Standing 14 meters high, the logistics facility adds a further 8,400 square meters of hall and 600 square meters of office capacity to the “An der Autobahn” campus. “We are delighted to integrate a leading high-tech and entertainment company here in Guetersloh. This business will require a total of 16,000 square meters on site”, explains Andreas Barth, President Hightech & Entertainment at Arvato SCM Solutions. Under this new contract, Arvato will be responsible for services such as stock management, order picking, distribution and transport management for products such as DVDs, Blu-rays and a wide range of promotional materials in both Germany and Central Europe. Moreover, this contract also covers the entire returns management. In time, approximately 150 employees will be responsible for keeping operations running smoothly. The new facility is equipped with the latest picking systems and state-of-the-art logistics technology. An IT system based on the most recent SAP release will be used to control the logistics processes. Arvato has invested a double-digit million sum in both Hall 20 and the yet-to-be-completed Hall 21, which will be finished by the end of 2017. The addition of these two halls will give the e-commerce and supply chain service provider a total of 140,000 square meters of logistics space on site in Guetersloh. Aside from this new customer, Arvato is also responsible for other high-tech and entertainment businesses in Guetersloh, as well as for VVA’s book and toy delivery.
