Blue Freight Service, Pangea member in Germany, coordinated an out-of-gauge (OOG) shipment with its counterpart members in Belgium, Cobelair, and US, Express Airfreight (Houston) for air freighting a tailor-made shelter for a production line, with the following dimensions 498x251x295 cm plus 178x121x123 cm and total weight of 4120 Kg.

The customer had packed the shelter into a create which odd measures could not fit into any cargo flights amongst the airlines network and part charter was out of the customer’s budget. Therefore, Blue Freight Service, proposed an innovative and cost effective solution that included re-packaging the cargo into crates able to fit into a B747-8 freighter. The cargo, valued 900K €, was properly insured and the crates flew on a direct flight LUX-IAH.

Cobelairhandled the collection of the crates via flatbed trailer, took charge of the security checks and delivered to airline at Luxembourg International Airport (LUX).

At Houston International Airport (IAH), the Express Airfreight Team arranged and supervised the loading operations and delivered the crates to a free trade zone in Geismar, LA. Delivery was arranged in-bond so that Cnee could pay Duty/VAT after the equipment was moved out of the free trade zone.

They had only 6 days margin to complete the whole project as per the customer’s requirements who’s production was already behind the schedule. All involved parties handled operations smoothly and professionally. Fast and accurate communication was the key factor to ensure customer’s satisfaction.
